Craps in Las Vegas: Where to Play, Cheap Tables and the Best Bets

Craps in Las Vegas: Where to Play, Cheap Tables and the Best Bets

Updated October 2026. Table counts from the Nevada Gaming Control Board (12 months through August 2026); odds from the Wizard of Odds.

Craps is the loudest table in any Las Vegas casino, and for good reason. When the shooter is hot, the whole table wins together. It also has some of the best odds in the building, if you know which bets to make.

Here’s where to play craps in Las Vegas, how to find a cheaper table, and the bets that give you the best (and worst) odds.

The Short Answer: The Best Bets in Craps

  • Pass line plus odds. The pass line has a 1.41% house edge, and the odds bet behind it has none at all. Together, at a table offering 3-4-5x odds, the combined edge drops to about 0.37%.
  • Don’t pass plus odds. Slightly better math (1.36% before odds), if you don’t mind betting against the table.
  • Place 6 or 8. 1.52% per bet resolved, the best of the place bets.

Everything in the middle of the table (any seven, any craps, hardways, hop bets) carries a much bigger edge. More on those below.

Where to Play Craps in Las Vegas

The Strip is where most of the action is: about two-thirds of Clark County’s craps tables are on the Strip. Downtown and the locals casinos have far fewer tables, but that’s also where the lower minimums tend to be.

Where to Find Cheap Craps in Las Vegas

Craps minimums change by the day and the hour, so always check the sign on the table. A few patterns hold:

  • Go off the Strip. Most of the $5 and $10 tables are Downtown and in the locals casinos.
  • Go early and midweek. Minimums are lowest when the casino is quiet and go up on busy nights and holiday weekends.
  • Look for bigger odds. A $10 table with 10x odds can be a better deal than a $5 table with 2x odds, because the odds bet has no house edge.

As of Covers’ most recent survey (June 2026), Ellis Island, just off the Strip, had a $5 minimum with 10x odds. Sam’s Town ($10) and Main Street Station ($15) offered 20x odds, and many Downtown and locals casinos ran $10 tables with 10x odds. On the Strip, The Strat was the only casino it found offering 10x odds.

Prices like these move often. Ask the pit boss before you buy in.

Why the Odds Bet Matters So Much

The more odds a table lets you take, the lower your overall house edge on the pass line:

Odds allowedPass line + odds, combined house edge
1x0.85%
2x0.61%
3-4-5x0.37%
5x0.33%
10x0.18%

Craps Bets to Avoid

  • Any seven: 16.67%.
  • Any craps: 11.11% (at the usual 7 to 1 payout).
  • Hardways: 9.09% on hard 6 or 8, 11.11% on hard 4 or 10.
  • Hop bets: 11.11% or more at the usual payouts.
  • Field: 5.56% when 2 and 12 both pay double, 2.78% when one of them pays triple.

They’re fun, and they pay big when they hit. Just know you’re paying for that excitement.
